Question: Is it allowed to change one’s sex from male to female?
Fiqh Rule: It is permitted to undergo such surgeries in cases where individuals are afflicted with a biological condition and require medical treatment for it. However, individuals who experience a mental illness such as gender identity disorder are not permitted to undergo these surgeries. Therefore, it is advisable to encourage them to pursue mental therapy instead.
